2nd Annual BLaH and BASS Business BBQ

The best of BBQs in SFU Business

As the sun finally peeked out from behind the clouds in what felt like months, it appeared as though winter had finally decided to cooperate and leave for the south. Thankfully, because when you have the key ingredients of sunshine, heaps of burger patties, and great company, it is inevitable that an extraordinary beach BBQ will prevail – which is exactly was happened earlier this mid-June when business students from all faculties united to partake in the second annual BLaH and BASS Business BBQ.

Massive football game

We had in all about 80 people show up, despite some technical difficulties with the Skytrain holding up people and a very chilly breeze. Trying to keep the blood pumping to stay warm, a friendly game of football emerged on the field that eventually turned into a pretty serious game at the end with a few minor injuries (unintended of course). In addition we had some volleyballs and Frisbees flying though the air as people intermingled with each other. Then the water balloons started flying through the air and that’s where the trouble began, well at least not for those who were smart enough to stay out of the Super Soaker challenge. While some of us were helplessly victimized; a need to take down the merciless offenders meant sacrificing oneself in order to save everyone else. But yes, although soaking wet at the end of the battle, it was worth the laughs.

Looking back on the BBQ I felt that everyone left adding a few more names and faces to their memory, assuring me that all the time and effort put into the BBQ was well worth it! I hope to see even more people at the Third Annual BLaH and BASS BBQ next summer!
