President

Jaslinder Sidhu - President

Jaslinder is a third/fourth year Business Administration student, specializing in MIS, Management & Technology and Management Science. She has been with MISA since Fall 2009 and hope to play her role as a President efficiently. Having worked previously outside of Canada in a Supply Chain Management organization for some period of time, she has always been intrigued by the field of MIS and its function in a business. When speaking to various SFU students, Jaslinder realized that MIS is an untapped branch of learning and that students are unaware of the vast number of opportunities that await them of this concentration. She is confident that MISA will bridge the gap between the students and MISA through MIS-related events. I also hope to change the perspectives of non-Business students while making them aware of MIS and a future of endless possibilities. As a past executive, I have had the chance to project manage the 'Future of MIS' event in Spring 2010 and I have learned and gained a lot skills in terms of leadership, networking and project management. She is thrilled to be working alongside other fellow MISA members on any future events and hopes to gain a variety of skills from different roles undertaken at MISA.

Vice President

Kulwant Singh - Vice President

Kulwant Singh is a fourth year Business student concentrating in MIS, Management Science and Management & Technology. Kulwant joined MISA in Fall of 2009 and his involvement as a former Director of Recruitment has not only been instrumental in his personal and professional development but he has also gained a good idea about MIS and MISA. He has also project managed events and strongly believes that MISA has the potential to grow and make a significant impact on the students professional development by assisting them in developing their skills and experience that would be very valuable in their future activities. This is possible through excessive involvement, commitment and member support. Also, I hope to continue with the tradition of having successful events for our students and I wish to bring into play my communication, teamwork, and leadership skills along with my experience within MISA to promote MIS and work towards the best of MISA. By working alongside with the President and my fellow members, I hope to bring a great and exciting year ahead with activities and progress for our members and our club.

Director of External Relations

Mingqiu Guo - Director Of External Relations

Mingqiu (more commonly known as M.Q) is a Business Administration student who is taking third year business courses in fall 2010. He is going to specialize in finance and probably MIS. Mingqiu has been in charge of supply chain management back in his home country Singapore when he was serving the army. There he developed an interest in MIS and realized its immense importance to any organization. By joining MISA he hopes to develop his knowledge and passion for MIS on the personal level while also working to enable a greater appreciation of it on a school level. He has been in several leadership positions in his high school and is now the vice president of the Investment Banking Club (IBC), a new business club set up last term with the specific purpose of raising SFU student employment figures with regard to investment banks. Though new to MISA, Mingqiu is committed to working with other executives to bring progress to the club. As the Director of External Relations, he looks forward to working closely with existing contacts to benefit MISA as well as taking the initiative to expand beyond the existing network. He also hopes to bring about a greater collaboration between MISA and IBC.

Director of Communication

Arvand Alviri - Director Of Communications

Arvand is a fourth year Business Administration student, concentrating in Marketing as well as MIS. Arvand first heard of MISA via the MISA mixer which intrigued him enough to make him pursue an MIS concentration. He hopes to apply his marketing experience in order to raise awareness of MISA especially amongst first and second year students. He is thrilled to be working alongside other MISA executives and hopes to gain a variety of skills and gain a variety of skills from different tasks required by this position.

Director of Finance

Aman Darred - Director of Finance

Aman Darred is a fourth year Business student concentrating in MIS, International Business and Management of Technology. He has been an active member of MISA for a couple of years now but this is his first semester in an executive position. Aman is very passionate about MIS and sees great career potential in this field. Aside from the usual duties involved with the director of finance position, Aman hopes to work together with fellow executives to create awareness and interest for MISA amongst first and second year students. He looks forward to another exciting semester at SFU and is thrilled to be part of the MISA executive team.

Director of Technology

Dickson Cheung - Director Of Technology

Dickson Cheung is a Business Administration student concentrating in MIS and Finance. He has studied at SFU for two years and is a new member to MISA. His first involvement with MISA started with adding a rotating banner to MISA's website. He hopes that his technical knowledge will allow him to satisfy the various requests and suggestions regarding the enhancements and maintenance of MISA's website. He aims to continue the improvement in the use of technology within MISA in order to achieve MISA's objectives.

Director of Administration

Manraj Kevin Sehra - Director of Administration

Manraj Kevin Sehra is a third/fourth year undergraduate student pursuing a Communications major. Kevin has a keen interest in Management Information Systems since the Fall of 2009. In the Spring 2010 semester, he has worked as an alumni student calling fundraiser and achieved an award for the highest number of new donors to SFU bursaries and scholarships of choice. He continues to raise donations in this seasonal fundraising position. Kevin credits his transfer credentials in a General Business Studies Diploma and then a Marketing Management Certificate from Kwantlen Polytechnic University. He had participated as a volunteer representative in the B.C. Place Stadium Vancouver International auto show and in photo shoot testimonials to market Kwantlen's polytechnic university status. His retail experience comprised of delivering customer service and ensuring inventory logistics while working at Sears Robson and previously at Tiptop Tailors. He has volunteered for the Canadian Cancer Society canvassing in their April 2010 and 2005 campaigns. Kevin believes that he could help epitomize a student ambassadorial role by contributing loyalty to MISA and the SFU community through valued teamwork. He aspires to help develop his social event management skills while having an enjoyable semester in MISA.

Guramrit Singh - Director Of Recruitment

Guramrit Singh is a second/third year SIAT student, concentrating in Media Arts and a minor in Business. As this is his first semester with MISA, he looks forward in learning and experiencing MIS through MISA. Guramrit has carried out various roles in student unions and students clubs at secondary and polytechnic levels back home in Singapore. With these experiences under his belt, he is committed in working with every executive to bring progress to the club. As the Director of Recruitment, he looks forward in bringing and getting students involved with MISA and thus increasing our ever growing club!

Bernadette Chan - MIS Representative

Bernadette Chan is a third year business student, concentrating in Human Resource and Accounting. This will be her first semester with MISA, and she looks forward to getting to know the Executive team as well as other members within the association. Also, Bernadette has been involved with ASA and SFUi's GPS Buddy Program for a few semesters now. She recently returned from her adventurous study abroad term in Taipei and encourages everyone to apply to the exchange program. One of her duties is to coordinate and run MISA's annual networking and social MIS Alumni Night event. She hopes to bring a fresh perspective and increase the fun factor in MISA!

Jennifer Jiang - Senior Adviser

Jennifer Jiang is a forth year Business Administration and Psychology joint-major. Jennifer intends to concentrate in MIS, Management Science, and Accounting. She has been with the Management Information Systems Association (MISA) since she first began her university career and has held director positions in MISA from Spring 2007 onwards. She was the past president for MISA from 2008 - 2009. She is strongly passionate about MISA and believes that with the help of the highly talented MISA team, MISA will continue to grow.
