September 2009 - SFU 2009 Community Award for Engaging Citizenship
On September 24th 2009, SMA was nominated by an SFU staff for the SFU 2009 Community Award. We successfully got awarded for engaged citizenship category for our outstanding contribution in the community through charity events held throughout the year. (SFU)
April 2007 - AMA Outstanding Chapter Planning
In April 2007, SMA again received top honours for Outstanding Chapter Planning, awarded to Collegiate Chapters who display phenomenal vision for the organization, consistently maintaining standards, meeting goals, and effectively managing an organization. (AMA)
April 2007 - AMA Outstanding Professional Development
This year's association scored big at the annual awards. Scoring top in the Professional Development category, SMA displayed great achievements in this area. Largely attributed to SMA's networking events like Marketers' Night and Careers in Focus, and activities/events like: workshops, roundtable sessions, speaker series, agency tours, and other professional development sessions - SMA is proud of this well-deserved award! June 2006 - 1st place, The SFU “ApprenMice” display competition
As part of SFU's 40th Anniversary Open House Celebrations, the SMA was invited to participate in a display competition. SFU Business Clubs were asked to showcase their concentration in an unusual way - to design a mousetrap that would be unique and our own. Using the concepts regarded as the building blocks of marketing, the 4P's (Product, Price, Promotion, and Placement), SMA showcased the basic foundational elements of marketing, as well as creating an award-winning display of our disco-themed mousetrap: Stayin' Alive!
April 2006 - AMA Outstanding Communications
In April 2006, the SMA received top honours in Outstanding Communications, awarded to recognize the outstanding effort and strategy regarding external and internal communication. The Student Marketing Association's use of promotional techniques, websites, newsletters, sponsorship tools, committees, and other innovative resources has garnered this outstanding accomplishment. December 2005 - 1st place, SFU Business Christmas Charity Challenge
At the end of 2005, SFU Business Clubs engaged in three weeks of friendly competition to fundraise the most for a local charity. Last year's efforts resulted in a total of $2600 donation towards the North Shore Community House by all clubs. The Student Marketing Association completed its campaign by being the largest contributor to the local charity.
April 2000 - AMA Top Collegiate Chapter Award
AMA's annual chapter awards recognizes outstanding collegiate chapters for their teamwork, dedication, and service. In April 2000, the Student Marketing Association was awarded the prestigious honour as the Top Collegiate Chapter. The SMA was the first collegiate in Canada to win this award, and also was awarded the best chapter in the Western Region. (AMA)
