To become an executive:
- Email the following three items: 1) Application Form; 2) resume; and 3) picture to Grace at eka16@sfu.ca with the subject line: [SMA] Your Name – Executive Application for Semester and Year (e.g. [SMA] Steve M. Anderson – Executive Application for Spring 2012).
- You will receive an email from a member of the SMA Board requesting a short in-person meeting.
- There is a $5 Executive Fee if you apply in Summer/Fall 2011 semesters and a $3 fee if you apply in the Spring 2012 semester. Your Executive Membership will expire on May 1, 2012.

- How long will my membership be valid for?
All Executive mailing lists will be cleared at the beginning of each new term year. New terms begin in May the following year. For example, if you signed up in Summer 2011, Fall 2011 or Spring 2012, your membership will expire in May 2012. Executive Members from previous year-terms can request a speedy “Executive Membership Renewal” in May the following year! - What is the Exec Package and how much does it cost??
The Exec Package costs $10 and it includes: 1) Executive Membership ($3 or $5); 2) SMA t-shirt ($10); and 3) SMA lanyard ($3). General Members may purchase this package (excluding the Executive Membership) at $13 – the regular price.When you become an Executive Member, you can cover your Executive Membership fee AND the Exec Package for just $10. To have your application processed, you will need a “Director of Referral” from one of the Directors of SMA (including the President or non-committee Directors). This means that we request your participation at some SMA events before you apply for your Executive Membership. You can showcase your participation by attending any of our SMA events, helping at booth duty, and/ or attending our meetings (current meetings times can be found here [http://www.sfubiz.ca/sma/join-sma/meeting-times]). After your attendance at some of these events or meetings, you can approach any of the Directors and ask them in-person for their referral by showing your interest in applying for Executive Membership. Regardless of which committees you are interested in, you only need ONE Director’s referral. Once you have asked a Director in-person, you can write the name of the Director who provided you with a referral in the application. It’s as simple as that!
